There are more than 20 Brisbane City Council pools across the city, many of which offer great facilities for families to enjoy. From swimming lessons and squad training sessions to water slides and wading pools, a public pool can be the perfect way to get active and keep your kids happy.
Neal Macrossan Pool
Nestled within the Neal Macrossan Park, this seasonal salt water 25 metre pool is a terrific, inclusive spot to come for a dip. You’ll find plenty of surrounding trees, a grassy area, a disabled ramp, a shaded shallow end and a learn-to-swim pool.
This complex is a great option for those who are not comfortable in the water, or for families with young children and babies. There is a large toddler’s wading pool, water play features and barbecue facilities in the landscaped grounds.
Streets Beach
This iconic Brisbane city pool is a huge draw for both families and backpackers, offering a chain of shallow lagoons with bridges and tropical picnic islands. It is a popular spot for day-trippers, and there are lifeguards patrolling the man-made beach throughout the year.

Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre
This complex has an outdoor six-lane heated pool, an indoor program pool, a cafe/kiosk, large grassed area and shaded seating areas with BBQ facilities. It offers swimming lessons and children’s squad coaching, as well as fitness classes.
It’s also available for lane hire, birthday parties and school carnivals. It also offers disabled access and a changing room.
You’ll love the views from this secluded spot on the waterfront. It’s a relaxing and quiet oasis where you can go for a swim or a dip after work on a hot summer’s day.
There’s a small fee for use of the pool, but you can enjoy the view of the Brisbane River from its large sun deck and BBQ areas. It’s a perfect spot for a pre-work dip or for a relaxing afternoon with your partner.
Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool
If your kids like to play hard, they’ll have a ball at this indoor aquatic facility. It has a 50 metre pool and a 25 metre pool, as well as a mini-waterpark for children with a few slides to choose from.
They also offer learn-to-swim classes, water polo and swimming lessons for adults. It also has a cafe and a disabled change room with wheelchair access to the pool.
