Actors Who Could Be the Next Superman after Henry Cavill’s Departure

The search for the next Superman begins as Cavill is officially out of the possibility of playing the Man of Steel.

With the news of Henry Cavill leaving the DC Universe, DC Comics fans eagerly anticipated the release of James Gunn’s upcoming epic. They were curious to see who will inherit the mantle of the new Man of Steel.

This reboot will follow the pioneering hero in his first years combating crime and working at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, so individuals can expect to see the face of a new, young hero soaring through the air with the acclaimed red cape.

The search for the perfect actor for the Superman film is likely to be difficult. Nevertheless, DC and Warner Bros are famed for seeking out little-known actors and turning them into much-loved celebrities by casting them as the lead in DC movies.

There are more than a few celebrated figures who are ready to follow in Superman’s footsteps, and numerous others who have already earned reputations as well-suited actors for such a role.

  1. Joel Courtney

Courtney is best known for his role as Lee Flynn in Netflix’s Kissing Booth trilogy. However, Courtney was widely recognized for his role in J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi picture, Super 8, for which he received a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor and many other award nominations.

Courtney has already shown that he’s a talented actor and starred in the sort of alien stories that Kal-El has found himself in. He is also just acting in the forthcoming film Jesus Revolution. Based on the video, Courtney portrays the wide-eyed optimism and intense worldliness that a young Superman would exude.

  1. Fionn Whitehead

Christopher Nolan’s harrowing war film Dunkirk featured a memorable performance by Fionn Whitehead. For that, he was nominated for an Empire Award for Best Newcomer. Despite his large ensemble cast, he has shown with his performance that he can carry big-budget blockbusters.

Whitehead’s lengthy cinematic background ranges from the BBC series Him and Netflix’s Black Mirror Bandersnatch to the Dusk of Dawn and DC Universe episodes by James Gunn. This indicates that Whitehead can be a part of James Gunn’s new movie universe.

  1. David Corenswet

Audiences have seen David Corenswet ‘s rise to fame in recent years with his roles in Two Washington, DC-based shows, The Politician and Hollywood. He also did a favorite film, A24’s Road. He once played the role of a projectionist from the Smallville, KS, area.

This proves that this up-and-coming actor can bring last year’s Superman back to movie theaters in Gunn’s reboot. But more importantly, Corenshawn Cooper has shown that he has the personality and qualifications necessary to portray a young hero.

  1. Jacob Elordi

You might recognize Elordi best for his role as Nate Jacobs in the HBO sausage-slicing series Euphoria. While it might be difficult for some to see Elordi as Superman, he played a conventionally attractive adolescent heartthrob in The Kissing Booth films. Thomas’s acting abilities as the title character in the hit franchise enabled him to play the role of Superman on the big screen.

Nate’s fears and masculinity could impact his performance on a friendly Euphoria as Superman, a character who is a complete contrast to Nate. Part of what makes Superman beloved and relatable is his humility and vulnerability, so Elordi should know how to present this character and not act like a mirror of Nate. And considering how Lenny’s character in The Kissing Booth had Superman as one of his heroes, maybe his casting as the icon would be a prophecy fulfilled.

  1. Darren Criss

The most obvious close resemblance of Ethan McCubbin, who plays Superman in the Arrowverse, is Darren Criss, who is by then famous for portraying the Boy Scout. Criss is not only famous for his portrayal of Blaine Anderson on Glee, but he also won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance as infamous spree killer Andrew Cunanan on The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

A versatile actor such as Criss, who happens to be one of the top contenders for the role, is already strong enough to play DC s menacing hero due to his widely praised and active performance as an actor.

His record of providing compelling male characters indicates that Criss is already qualified to portray Superman hilariously in upcoming live-action works.
