Shoals Club at Bald Head Island

About The View is a superior BHI home offering privacy, comfort and gorgeous 180 views of ocean and wildlife! Toes can be in the sand within seconds via private beach access.

Two pools, three distinct dining venues, direct beach access and family activities deliver a new level of seaside experiences for members, guests and temporary members.

The Beach

Overlooking the Frying Pan Shoals, the only point on the east coast built on a cape, the Shoals club delivers a new level of beachside experiences. With its oceanfront clubhouse, fine and casual dining, pools, lounge, fitness room, shower and locker facilities, direct beach access, and creative kids’ programming, the club is a paradise for members and their families.

During the day, poolside seating, towel service and provided chairs and umbrellas make it easy to spend long summer days lounging at the pool or strolling out to the famous Cape Fear Point. In the evenings, a second-floor dining area and less-formal lounge offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic and a wide array of menu selections. The club’s premier dinner venue, AQUA, is dedicated to seasonal offerings and offers a unique take on island cuisine.

A private island, BHI is a car-free destination with no traffic and plenty of space to spread out and relax. Rent a bike from Coastal Urge or Riverside Adventure Company, visit the Old Baldy Lighthouse, go on a ghost walk, sail, surf, and more.

The Clubhouse

With a breathtaking location that reaches to the tip of the legendary Frying Pan Shoals, the clubhouse is an oasis for members and their guests. The two-story, 10,000 square foot facility features a 5-star restaurant and 20,000 square feet of porches, pools and decks. It is perhaps best known as the perfect oceanfront location for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and bridal luncheons, or as a picture-perfect reception that overlooks endless views of the Atlantic.

Families love the two-story pool complex, which includes a lap pool and shallow children’s pool. There are also waterslides, a splash pad and playground. A gazebo bar and snack bar are open for food service, as well as a full-service restaurant called Horizons, which offers lunch and dinner year-round.

In the summer, the pool area is staffed with 3-4 attendants that greet members when they arrive at the beach. They ask how many chairs and umbrellas they need, then follow them to the spot they want on the beach. Members tip them for their services, and then they get their card back when they are ready to leave.

The clubhouse offers a wide range of dining options including the Shoals Grill, a poolside restaurant with fresh local cuisine and ice cold drinks. For a more upscale experience, AQUA is the preferred restaurant venue. For those looking for a less formal setting, the Shoals Clubhouse lounge is also available.

During the summer, live entertainment enhances the experience at this popular dining destination.

If you’re looking for something quick, you can head to the nearby Maritime Market for delicious, prepared foods. You’ll also find the aforementioned coffee shop, which serves a variety of tasty premium drinks including smoothies, frappes, lattes and more. Their food menu includes salads, sandwiches, and grab-and-go options like lunchables and wraps perfect for taking to the beach or pool.

Other nearby options include a local brewery and a fun bar with snacks, beer, wine and cocktails on the harbor. Delphina Coastal Cuisine is home to both Delphina Cantina and Delphina Pizza, serving Mexican and Mediterranean style dishes. They also serve burritos and other grab-and-go options.
