Elon Musk Lifted Donald Trump’s Twitter Ban

Donald Trump was barred from using Twitter in January 2021

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, has reinstated the account of Trump after an online poll attracted users to approve it overwhelmingly.

“The people have spoken,” tweeted Elon Musk, indicating that 51.8% of 15 million Twitter users supported lifting the ban on Trump.

But Trump, the former U.S. President, may not return to the platform. He stated, “I do not see any reason I should do that.”

In January 2021, Twitter halted account of his due to his ballooning threats of violence.

Twitter’s previous management acted within a few days after Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building on January 6.

Rioters entered the complex as the United States Congress tried to confirm Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election. The resulting chaos resulted in a four-person death and a police officer’s death.

The social media accounts of Donald Trump, which had several million followers, were suspended around the same time after the political riots.

Months later, Trump launched his own social media platform, “Truth Social.”

A few days ago, Republicans intended to run for president again in 2024.

The world’s richest person, Mr. Musk, took charge in October of Twitter in a $44bn ($37bn) deal.

Elon Musk oversaw some of the corporation’s most potent changes in reaction to fears that he might alter their long-standing policies around hate speech and misinformation.

United  States midterm campaigns begin on November 8, so he tweeted several weeks ago that he would not reinstate President Trump’s Twitter account.

“If I had a dollar for every time somebody asked on social media if Trump would come back to this site, Twitter would make pretty money!”

Last week, he announced that the company’s office buildings would be closed indefinitely, effective immediately.

It comes as a response to reports that large numbers of employees were leaving following Mr. Musk’s request for them to work “more hours at high intensity” or leave.

Is Donald Trump planning to take his Twitter Platform back?

While Donald Trump maintains that he prefers not to return to Twitter, he knew this poll had great significance.

He encouraged his followers on Truth Social to take part in the poll. “Vote now with positivity, but don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere. Truth Social is unique”, he advised them.

Trump’s problem is that Truth Social has comparatively little traffic compared to Twitter. Sensor Tower noted that in September, the download count of Truth Social had reached 92,000 individuals, and Twitter had an estimated three-hundred-twenty million active users during that period.

Mr. Trump would wish to have his Twitter megaphone back. Twitter was his favorite app, a platform he used to generate support and sway the news cycle.

Even though his reach on Twitter is far greater, he’s financially invested in making Truth Social more successful.

Its owner is the Trump Media & Technology Group, and if he were to return to Twitter, it would be impossible to predict how its status might quickly become.

That may explain why Donald Trump isn’t trying to return to Twitter.

But in the long run, he will have to weigh political decisions with political ones and decide whether to run for president again – don’t count him out as a possible candidate.
